How Do You Know You Are Free?

It's a good question, because unless you know by what standard you should measure freedom, you cannot know if you really ARE free.

Let's get personal. How do YOU rate your own freedom? And what is it that defines the freedom you think you have? How would you answer the following?

Are you able to start a business without bureaucratic overload? Are you able to cut down a tree in your own back yard? Are you able to keep the money you earn? Are you able to smoke marijuana? Are you able to read any book, or see any movie? Are you able to express your opinion without fear? Are you able to gamble at offshore online casinos? Are you able to travel without undue harassment? Are you able to buy, sell or trade whatever you like? Are you able to keep your personal information private?

The list could go on, but you get the drift.

Freedom, when it comes down to the wire, is the ability to make choices about your own life and property. Freedom is NOT about negating the same choices for other people. So, I cannot claim the freedom to steal another's property. Freedom can only be related to actions which do not impinge on someone else's freedom.

'Culture of life' doesn't apply to Iraq

As a longtime fan of both George Bushes' eccentric grasp of English, I naturally enjoyed this gem from W.: "See, in my line of work, you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." (Bush in Greece, N.Y., May 24, once more explaining his Social Security plan to a town hall meeting of perfectly average citizens, except they had all been pre-screened to allow only those who agree with him into the hall.)

"Catapulting the propaganda" would explain his performance at the press opportunity that same day at which he appeared surrounded by babies born from frozen embryos. He used the phrase "culture of life" at least 27 dozen times. "The use of federal dollars to destroy life is something I simply do not support," he said to the press the following day.

Meanwhile, back in Baghdad, federal dollars are being used to destroy life at a pretty good clip because Bush decided to wage an entirely elective war against a country that presented little or no threat to us. And according to the Downing Street memo, he damn well knew it, too.

Pentagon details mishandling of Quran

...water balloons thrown by prison guards caused an unspecified number of Qurans to get wet; a guardÂ’s urine came through an air vent and splashed on a detainee and his Quran; and in a confirmed but ambiguous case, a two-word obscenity was written in English on the inside cover of a Quran.

The radio "news" is reporting that "urine was inadvertentlyy splashed on a Quran. Excuse me? How does one "inadvertently" splash URINE on a Quran? I guess I should ask Don and his gang for the answer to that question."

Horror of USA's depleted Uranium

'Depleted' uranium is in many ways a misnomer. 'Depleted' sounds weak. The only weak thing about depleted uranium is its price. It is dirt cheap, toxic, waste from nuclear power plants and bomb production. However, uranium is one of earth's heaviest elements and DU packs a Tyson's punch, smashing through tanks, buildings and bunkers with equal ease, spontaneously catching fire as it does so, and burning people alive. 'Crispy critters' is what US servicemen call those unfortunate enough to be close. And, when John Pilger encountered children killed at a greater distance he wrote: "The children's skin had folded back, like parchment, revealing veins and burnt flesh that seeped blood, while the eyes, intact, stared straight ahead. I vomited."

US media censor uranium weapons stories

A dedication in 2120 might say: Dedicated to the memory of the Iraqi people. Many people believe Iraq was the birthplace of civilization some 5,000 years ago. Iraq was destroyed and radioactively contaminated in an early 21st Century Oil War by a fascist world power, now extinguished.

Memorial Day should be renamed Mourning Day

The pipeline that will change the world

The first drops of crude will snake their way along a pipeline that traverses some of the most unstable and war-ravaged countries on earth.

A huge 11-year-long undertaking, the pipeline will transform the Caucasus and Turkey into an energy bridge between the Caspian and the rest of the world when it is fully operational six months from now.

But much of the gleam of that accomplishment was worn away over the past week by Azerbaijan when police badly beat and arrested scores of people attending a peaceful rally on Saturday as part of a wider crackdown linked to the pipeline's opening.

Neoconomics in One Lesson

This essential truth should not be surprising, as it is the very nature of government to suck up the resources of the population it purports to “govern,” in times of relative peace as well as in times of war. There is absolutely no way that government can “create” anything--it can only take away or destroy. That’s all it can do. If it is “providing” something to someone, it is doing so only by the means of taking something away from someone else. To forcibly transfer something from one individual’s hands to another’s is, obviously, not really “providing,” it’s stealing, and indeed it is destroying, as the plundered individual gets absolutely nothing in exchange. The State is a parasitic leech.

Galloway v the US Senate

In quotes: the Galloway showdown

Some of the quotes from British MP George Galloway as he confronted his accusers on a US Senate sub-committee.

"Who paid me hundreds of thousands of dollars? The answer to that is nobody and if you had anybody who paid me a penny you would have produced them here today."

"I have met Saddam Hussein exactly the same number of times as Donald Rumsfeld met him. The difference is that Donald Rumsfeld met him to sell him guns and to give him maps the better to target those guns."

"You traduced my name around the world without ever having asked me a single question, without ever having contacted me, without ever having written to me or telephoned me, without any contact with me whatsoever and you call that justice."

"Senator [Norm Coleman, committee chairman], this is the mother of all smoke screens. You are trying to divert attention from the crimes that you supported from the theft of billions of dollars of Iraq's wealth."

"You have nothing on me Senator [Coleman], except my name on lists of names in Iraq, many of which were drawn up after the installation of your puppet government in Iraq."

"I have never seen a barrel of oil, owned one, bought one, sold one, and neither has anybody on my behalf."

"I know that standards have slipped over the last few years in Washington but for a lawyer you are remarkably cavalier with any idea of justice."

"One of the most serious mistakes you have made in this set of documents is such a schoolboy howler it makes a fool of the efforts you have made."

"Senator [Coleman], in everything I said about Iraq I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 have paid with their lives, 1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies."

``Rods from God''

President George W. Bush is expected to issue a directive in the next few weeks giving the U.S. air force a green light for the development of space weapons, potentially triggering a new global arms race, it was reported on Wednesday.

The new weapons being studied range from hunter-killer satellites to orbiting weapons using lasers, radio waves, or even dense metal tubes dropped from space by a weapon known as ``Rods from God''** on ground targets.

Newsweek Lied and People Died

Editorial: Damage to U.S./White House, look in the mirror
May 21, 2005

It is said by the White House that Newsweek magazine damaged U.S. standing abroad with its since-retracted, short report on Qur'an abuse at Guantánamo. Because reports of such abuse have abounded for years, and have been reconfirmed by the Red Cross, we doubt that very much. But there is something else to be said on this issue: If Newsweek's story caused damage, it is but a speck compared with the damage caused by this administration and its well-documented habit of abusing prisoners in Guantánamo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The latest, infuriating evidence comes from a confidential file of the Army's criminal investigation into abuse at the Bagram Collection Point in Afghanistan, a copy of which was obtained by the New York Times and reported on Friday:

"Even as the young Afghan man was dying before them, his American jailers continued to torment him.

"The prisoner, a slight, 22-year-old taxi driver known only as Dilawar, was hauled from his cell at the detention center in Bagram, Afghanistan, at around 2 a.m. to answer questions about a rocket attack on an American base. When he arrived in the interrogation room, an interpreter who was present said, his legs were bouncing uncontrollably in the plastic chair and his hands were numb. He had been chained by the wrists to the top of his cell for much of the previous four days.

"Mr. Dilawar asked for a drink of water, and one of the two interrogators, Specialist Joshua R. Claus, 21, picked up a large plastic bottle. But first he punched a hole in the bottom, the interpreter said, so as the prisoner fumbled weakly with the cap, the water poured out over his orange prison scrubs. The soldier then grabbed the bottle back and began squirting the water forcefully into Mr. Dilawar's face.

" 'Come on, drink!' the interpreter said Specialist Claus had shouted, as the prisoner gagged on the spray. 'Drink!'

"At the interrogators' behest, a guard tried to force the young man to his knees. But his legs, which had been pummeled by guards for several days, could no longer bend. An interrogator told Mr. Dilawar that he could see a doctor after they finished with him. When he was finally sent back to his cell, though, the guards were instructed only to chain the prisoner back to the ceiling.

" 'Leave him up,' one of the guards quoted Specialist Claus as saying.

"Several hours passed before an emergency room doctor finally saw Mr. Dilawar. By then he was dead, his body beginning to stiffen."

The writer of that dramatic piece is Tim Golden. Will White House spokesman Scott McClellan now accuse him and his editors of also damaging American standing abroad?

This atrocity was committed in our name, each of us, our children and grandchildren. So was the abuse at Abu Ghraib. So was the abuse at Guantánamo. So was the fictional account of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction used to justify an unnecessary war. So were the tens of thousands of Iraqi civilian deaths that war has caused. And White House officials have the gall to accuse Newsweek of damaging the name of this beloved nation?

Halliburton Watch

Blame it on Newsweek!

Weekly "news" magazine "Newsweek" published an article that stated that one of the many sins committed whilst at war was that U.S. troops allegedly threw a prisoner's Qur'an "down the toilet" at Gitmo. This morning the talk show circuit has its talking points blazing with the how dare they quote anonymous sources and how they're (Newsweek) to blame for this violence and that indiscretion. What a load of crap! It's perfectly fine to do the following: strip, fondle, sodomize (with glow sticks no less), make human pyramids with, assault with attack dogs, place underwear on heads (most probably soiled at that), beat, kick, blast with obnoxious music, drape in Israeli flags, smear with feces, stand on cartons with electrodes attached to limbs, chain up, deprive of sleep, the list goes on and on.... Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the DU - Depleted Uranium. Damn you Newsweek! Damn you!

Leave your tired and impotent clichés at the door.

The Glory of War

War is the devil's sacrament. It promises to bind us not with God but with the nation state. It grants not life but death. It provides not liberty but slavery. It lives not on truth but on lies, and these lies are themselves said to be worthy of defense. It exalts evil and puts down the good. It is promiscuous in encouraging an orgy of sin, not self-restraint and thought. It is irrational and bloody and vicious and appalling. And it claims to be the highest achievement of man.

Bid to sue over LSD rejected

A federal judge has tentatively ordered dismissal of a $12 million lawsuit against the U.S. government, filed by a former deputy marshal who said he was unknowingly drugged with LSD as part of a CIA mind-control program before trying to hold up a San Francisco bar nearly a half century ago.

In earlier rulings, U.S. District Judge Marilyn Hall Patel rejected the government's attempts to dismiss Wayne Ritchie's suit and said he had shown that a CIA mind-control experiment code-named MKULTRA was operating in San Francisco in December 1957, when Ritchie says he was drugged.

During the program, which lasted at least a decade at the height of the Cold War, hundreds of unwitting Americans were given LSD and other drugs to study their possible use in behavioral control.

LOOK FOR THE MEDIA LABELS

By Ted Rall
Tue Apr 12, 7:58 PM ET
An Examination of the Propaganda of Nomenclature

NEW YORK--If you read newspapers, listen to the radio or watch television, you know that the media has assigned Muqtada al-Sadr a peculiar job title: radical cleric. "Gunmen fired on supporters of the radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr on Friday," reports the Associated Press wire service. National Public Radio routinely refers to "radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr." "The protesters were largely supporters of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr," says CNN. Even Agence France-Press refers to him the same way: "Followers of a radical Shiite cleric marched in Baghdad."

I wonder: Does he answer his phone with a chipper "Muqtada al-Sadr, radical cleric!"? Does it say "radical cleric" on his business card?

It's a safe bet that neither al-Sadr nor his Iraqi supporters considers him particularly "radical." And, if you stop to think about it, there's nothing inherently extreme about wanting foreign troops to leave your country. Radical is a highly subjective word that gets thrown around without much reflection. What's more radical, invading another nation without a good excuse or trying to stop someone from doing so? But that's the problem: the media has become so accustomed to absorbing and regurgitating official government propaganda that they never stop to think.

A Google News search of the terms "Muqtada al-Sadr" and "radical cleric" brought up 616 news and opinion stories, the latter derived from the former. Despite the prime minister's obvious status as an American-appointed puppet, "Iyad Allawi" and "collaborationist" yielded zero results. The message is clear: al-Sadr, and by extension Iraqis who oppose the U.S. occupation, are marginal wackos. Those who support it are referred to by questionable legitimatizing honorifics--prime minister, in Allawi's case--because the U.S. government called a press conference to announce him as such.

Repetition is key to successful advertising. The American media uses repeated arbitrary labeling in its supposedly impartial coverage in a deliberate campaign to alter public perception. Americans were meant to feel less sympathy for an kidnapped Italian woman shot by U.S. soldiers manning a checkpoint in Iraq after the talking heads repeatedly referred to her as a "communist journalist." A Fox News reporter in the same story would never have been dubbed a "neofascist journalist." John McCain (R-AZ) might become president someday but "maverick senator John McCain" probably won't. Ralph Nader's name rarely appears in print without the unappealing word "gadfly" or a form of "crusading." Why not describe figures in the news using terms that aim for neutrality, like "Italian reporter" or "former Green Party candidate Ralph Nader"?

At the same time, parents are organizing to ensure the military draft does not return. The battle lines for the bodies of America's youth are beginning to take shape.

"an atrocity masquerading as war"

Iraqis protest American invasion

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Chanting “Death to America” and burning effigies of President Bush and Saddam Hussein, tens of thousands of Iraqis flooded central Baghdad on Saturday in what police called the largest anti-American protest since the fall of Baghdad, the capital, exactly two years ago.

Well, ya'll have done a SUPER job of "winning the hearts and minds"! What's wrong with these people? Can't they see that all the killing and maiming and depleted uranium was/is to LIBERATE them!?!?

Who would Jesus torture?

How many prisoners would Jesus torture?

How many innocents would Jesus bomb?

When would Jesus break his sworn oath?

How often would Jesus slaughter innocents by the cityful?

How often would Jesus have employed his disciples as torturers, so he could say his hands were clean?

How often would Jesus have hidden the guilty, that their crimes would not be known to the world?

Please, all of you good Christian friends, family, neighbors and co-workers, answer these questions.

Wow, war is so much FUN! (and oh so profitable too!)

Make Love, Not Strangelove

Atomic weapons are the perfect symbol for the modern state. Homicidal, genocidal, all around the enemy of civilization and despoiler of social norms of discourse and harmonious relationships. Surely it isn’t a coincidence that the “counter-culture” and a more self-indulgent and irresponsible social ethos pervaded American society at the same time that MAD –Mutually Assured Destruction- was enthroned as a rational doctrine for the defense of civilization.

Even more insane is that after the horrors of the Second World War, so-called “peace-loving, democratic” States are still allowed by their subjects to plot and prepare to rain down death upon any who challenge its existence or merely seek to frustrate its aims.

Nothing to see here, move along!

Road spy cameras will track criminals (and you too!)

(Coming soon to the U.K. and a traffic lamp mounted camera near you as well.)

A new national network of mobile cameras is to track criminals on the roads.

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras - linked to an extensive database - will pinpoint vehicles police want to trace.

The system led to a dramatic increase in arrests when it was tested by 23 forces between June 2003 and June last year, police say.

The cameras, mounted in vans, scan number plates and check them against a police database containing more than 8.5 million registrations.

It takes less than a second, allowing police at checkpoints to stop "wanted" vehicles immediately and question the occupants.

(Stop 'em, question 'em, charge 'em, get 'em into the system, tax 'em, fee 'em, spit 'em out, then drug 'em, scoop 'em back up again and chew on 'em some more! A real YUM-YUM of a system!)

Martial Law 9-11: Rise Of The Police State

Sunday March 20, 2005

I received my copy of Alex Jones’s new documentary, “Martial Law 9-11: Rise of the Police State” on Friday. It is one of Alex’s best documentaries yet! In two and a half hours he covers the Republican National Convention in New York, interviewing a diverse number of people to show their opinions. He documents the virtual lock-down of the city, the sound wave weapons at the ready, the corporate sponsored surveillance blimp and more. Alex goes on to show a side of the events of September 11, 2001 left out of the fairytale version as told to us by the mainstream media. He waits outside a restaurant while Michael Moore shoves his face full of tacos to ask him why he didn’t cover the real hard-core issues of 9-11, and while waiting nails the Michael Moore illusion. Then Alex hits a home run with an impromptu interview of multi-presidential advisor/insider David Gergen. Alex, that was one of your finest moments caught on film! He then wraps up the film with a brief history of Nazism, showing the Bush family ties, some of the symbolism used, Bohemian Grove and the Republican’s love-fest with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
(A side note: for a real treat keep an eye of the Gov-a-nat-or’s Cal-ee-for-nee-ah website:http://www.governor.ca.gov/state/govsite/gov_homepage.jsp where he documents such fun meetings as that of his recent hosting of Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Edmund Stoiber, no doubt a meeting of great importance to Cal-ee-for-nee-ans.)

Yesterday I got to witness the Police State in full swing right here in my own town. My family found that the new requirement for entrance into our County Fair is to have all bags searched by a Law Enforcement Officer. Even little, tiny teenage girl’s purses hardly large enough to hold a tube of lipstick had to be placed on the table to be prodded, groped and fondled by the Law Enforcement Officer. What kind of contraband were they looking for I wondered? And what is next? Since none of the men had handbags they weren’t being searched, but they could have easily concealed something in their pant legs. Next it’ll be everyone up against the wall, spread-eagle for a pre-fair frisk! We are truly in a Police State and if Alex’s documentary doesn’t wake you up to this fact, your next unprovoked search from a Law Enforcement Officer will!

Thank you Alex for your tireless work in exposing the agenda of the globalists!

Move Up the Date For Armageddon

Can the Net be Censored?

Our Preferred Poison

Let’s start with a straightforward fact: Mercury is unimaginably toxic and dangerous. A single drop on a human hand can be irreversibly fatal. A single drop in a large lake can make all the fish in it unsafe to eat.

So then let's put it in vaccines as a 'perservative' and inject it, repeatedly, into our babies.

Evil Is As Evil Does

Our children are being kidnapped and forced into servicing the elites and their minions in order to quell their twisted sexual appetites and simultaneously advance their New World Order agenda through blackmail and espionage. It's not hyperbole. The elite, who truly control, really do consider 'US', including our babies, their chattel and cattle!
History has already proven that elites mercilessly use our children for cannon fodder, for example, in their bogus wars. Why ? So they can line their pockets with more blood money and power. Power is to the elite what heroine is to a street addict. And we all know that addicts will do just about ANYTHING to feed their habit.
The elites poison our children with contaminated vaccinations that can severely compromise their immune system. And our children are forced to attend schools, which are nothing more than social engineering and government/corporate indoctrination centers. So, our children essentially serve a minimum 12 year prison sentence. When they are finally released, most spend the rest of their lives in a sort of parole or house arrest state of mind. In other words, mental prisoners for life. Their spirits are squelched, their souls are stultified, and their intellects are shaped into instruments to be used by their masters, not by their souls.

Why? So they can effectively serve as a cog in the wheel of an elite designed and owned social and economic system. The children who strive to serve their inner truth, their soul felt dreams and deep aspirations, are eventually forced by economics, emotional needs, and peer pressure to fall in line with the crowd or be marginalized from the mainstream the rest of their lives. Sorry to break your bubble, but America is not a land that values and nurtures individuals. It is a land of mass social conformity, rampant materialism, and media induced consumerism and group think.

Bell Calls 911 Skeptics 'Wingnuts'

Last night's program was a doozy. Art Bell sent a clear message to his faithful listeners, and it wasn't a nice one: if you don't buy the government's line on 9-11, you're a loony. Out of your mind. And that he and his show would be better off without your listenership, so if you want to quit listening, leave. He's better off without you.

So, oblige him. Quit listening. Listen to George Noory during the week, who respects other people's opinions and searches for the truth, and boycott Bell.

Tyranny Comes To Amerika

The "suicide" deaths of Hunter Thompson, Gary Webb and J.H. Hatfield show that reporters who expose the criminal activities of our political elite risk their lives.

They are on the front line of freedom. When they are killed, it means very bad things are in store for us.

Popular Mechanics Attacks

The Hearst-owned Popular Mechanics magazine takes aim at the 9/11 Truth Movement (without ever acknowledging it by that name) with a cover story in its March 2005 edition. Sandwiched between ads and features for monster trucks, NASCAR paraphernalia, and off-road racing are twelve dense and brilliantly designed pages purporting to debunk the myths of 9/11.

"Do you agree that a corporation is a person?"

My jury duty questionnaire: "Do you agree that a corporation is a person?"

It was time for me to serve on jury duty again. It's easy to get out of jury duty but frankly I think the jury system is the backbone of America. Serving on a jury is the most patriotic thing I can do -- aside from protesting election fraud.

So there I was in the courtroom. Jury selection. "This trial is a civil trial. A corporation is suing a corporation. Does anybody have trouble with the belief that a corporation is a person?" There were 58 people in that jury pool. Not one of them raised their hand. Except for me. I went OFF on that poor sweet judge.

"What do you MEAN that a corporation is a person!!!! A table is not a person. A chair is not a person. And a corporation is not a person either!" Me and that guy on "Law and Order". I was on a roll.

"Your Honor!" I expounded. "In 1886, in the case of Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, a lowly LAW CLERK by the name of J.C. Bancroft Davis -- a former employee of a railroad, mind you -- SNUCK a headnote into a decision, saying that a corporation is as good as a person. That headnote was not legally binding! And for the last 118 YEARS, America has been PRETENDING that corporations were living, breathing persons! Your Honor! That's just wrong."

I paused for breath. The judge paused for the bailiff. The Plaintiff looked worried and the Defendant looked worried too -- but by golly I was going to have my day in court! "No judge has ever ruled on this issue. You can't even cite case law on this. Can a corporation die? Can a corporation father a child?" And can a corporation receive welfare? Don't answer that.

I find it very hard to believe that every day, across this great nation of ours, thousands -- if not hundreds of thousands -- of perspective jurors are being asked this very same question and yet the whole nation-wide jury pool hasn't stood up in open rebellion when asked this stupid, cheesy question. "Does anybody have trouble with the belief that a corporation is a person?" What are we? A nation of sheep?

Needless to say, I was excused from jury duty. A corporation, however, did not step up to take my place. Why? Because a corporation is not allowed to serve on juries. Why not? Because at least someone somewhere has the good sense to realize that A CORPORATION IS NOT A PERSON!

THEY WOULDN'T... WOULD THEY?

Hostage recalls 'hail of gunfire'

Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena has described how she came under a "hail of gunfire" moments after being released from her Iraqi abductors in Baghdad.

What does Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena know and why did the U.S. want to kill her?

Ever since the kidnappings and beheadings of non-military personnel in Iraq began nearly 2 years ago, many observers, readers and analysts have asked why the Iraqi resistance would commit these crimes, knowing they would turn world opinion against them. Many ask the same questions about the mass killings of Shiites with bombs. The Iraqi resistance has nothing to gain from these atrocities and the invader/occupiers have everything to gain in the propaganda war. We know that the CIA and Mossad have been very busy in Iraq but what kind of "work" are they doing? Many readers write to us with their suspicions that these killings and kidnappings are the work of Black Ops in Iraq.
